Even when near the front wall, Yow skilfully guides the ball softly across the court into the nick , even with a long follow-through. The technical cornerstone here is the open racket face. Developing the ability to manipulate the ball with the strings, rather than merely 'flat batting' your shots, is essential. Flat batting typically results in the ball rebounding off the racket face with excessive pace, which is going to make life particularly difficult when trying to play drop shots.
